Hillsborough Castle is a large magnificent two–storey late Georgian mansion dating back from 1797 incorporating an earlier house of 1760, formerly the home of the Governors of Northern Ireland,
The mansion is now the official residence of the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland. Other distinguished guests have included HM The Queen, HRH THe Prince of Wales and many other distinguished world leaders. Within the grounds is Europe’s largest Rhododendron, the herbaceous Granville Gardens and the estate boasts enchanting garden walks.

It should be noted that the Garden Tours are not suitable for those with mobility issues as the majority of the gardens are comprised of very hilly and rough terrain.
