This award–winning museum is based in Lisburn’s oldest building, the 17th Century Market House, in the centre of the City. It brings to life the history of the Irish Linen Industry and its importance to Lisburn. Visitors can see the heritage of craft skills in the daily demonstrations of hand–spinning and handloom–weaving and admire the treasured collection of damask linen and costumes.

There is a changing programme of temporary exhibitions which includes themes of local history, artworks and textiles.

Regular children’s activities include craft workshops and trails. Guided historical tours of the nearby restored 17th Century Castle Gardens are available. Further details are available from reception staff.

For your souvenirs, the museum shop offers a wide range of craft goods and books at reasonable prices as well as an opportunity to but the finest quality Irish damask table linen with the exclusive “flax flower” design.
