Hillsborough is one of the area's famous showpiece villages. A glorious example of Georgian architecture, the village is an explosion of colour during the spring and summer months featuring in 'Ulster in Bloom' and 'Best Kept Village' awards. Explore its many speciality shops before sampling the food at one of the village's award-winning pub restaurants. The village also plays host to the International Oyster Festival each September. Hillsborough Castle, built in the 1770s, is home to the Secretary of State and is where Royal garden parties are regularly staged. Across from the Castle, Hillsborough Fort provides a fabulous centrepiece for the Forest. |
