Summary
The Northern Ireland Tourism Awards were announced at the Grand Opera House, Belfast on Monday 21 May, 2012. Brookhall Cottages self catering accommodation in Magheragall, Lisburn, was named as best ‘Non–Serviced Accommodation’. Owners Pauline and Sam Johnston were delighted to receive the award in front of peers and colleagues from the tourism industry.
Brookhall Cottages is high quality, comfortable self–catering accommodation in an attractive and historic setting complete with an open farm, wedding chapel, café, fishery and woodland all on the one site.
Judges were impressed with the standard of accommodation and setting which delivers the ‘wow’ factor, as well as the hospitality shown by the owners who go out of their way to ensure every visitor has a memorable stay. With nature trails, a farm museum and the open farm on site, there are many things for guests to do and children particularly delight in helping to feed the rare breed animals on the farm.
Comments from guests have highlighted the incredible experience, warmth of welcome and customer care to be found at Brookhall Cottages. Pauline and Sam are always looking for ways to innovate, be creative and have succeeded in developing a wonderful farm environment for their award winning accommodation.
Speaking after collecting the award, owner Pauline Johnston said ‘she was amazed to have won such an award when considering the tough competition from across the Province.’
Chair of the Councils Economic Development Committee, Alderman Jim Dillon added ‘it was terrific that one of Lisburn’s unique attractions be recognised for the top award in the Non–Serviced Accommodation section. The work that has been done at Brookhall Cottages, and indeed Brookhall Historical Farm is a fantastic experience for any visitor to Northern Ireland.’
