Down Arrow Summary

The popular Queen Tribute Act, Flash Harry, will take centre stage at Wallace Park on Monday 4th June 2012 at Lisburn City Council’s Diamond Jubilee Concert and Fireworks Display.

To mark the occasion of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee a beacon will be lit at 10pm, in line with beacon lightings across the UK. This will be followed by a fireworks display, as darkness falls, at approximately 10.30pm.

Wallace Park gates will open at 6.30pm. Flash Harry will take to the stage at 8.30pm. The event is not ticketed and admission is free, however there is an maximum audience capacity for the park and there is the possibility of numbers being restricted as the audience size is monitored.

Entry is only through the main Wallace Park gates and parking restrictions in the Wallace Park area will be in operation.

The Chairman of the Leisure Services Committee, Councillor Thomas Beckett, at the launch of the Concert in the Park, said: “We hope our residents will come out to see this well–known band. Given this bank holiday’s event’s expected popularity we would advise those planning to attend the Concert and Firework’s Display to plan your journey, plan where to park and how to get home safely.

“We are really pleased to be holding an event to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and we hope it will prove popular with our ratepayers. The Council will have stewards working on the night to ensure safe entry and crowd control at the park,” he said.

A beacon lighting and fireworks display will also take place in Hillsborough on the same evening. This will be held at 10.00pm in the Monument Field, Old Coach Road. Anyone wishing to attend is advised to arrive around 9.00 to 9.30pm in order to allow time for parking cars if this is required. There will be car parking availability at the Gun Club grounds, opposite the Monument Field and stewards will be in attendance to deal with traffic management. There will also be a small fireworks display in the Monument Field following the beacon lighting at 10pm.

Update details will be made available on the Council’s website www.lisburncity.gov.uk
