One of four major silver exhibitions taking place in August, EAT & DRINK: the CONNECT Collection, brings together the work of 49 silversmiths from the Contemporary British Silversmiths (formerly the Association of British Designer Silversmiths). Taking functional everyday objects as their starting point, each maker has created a piece of work on the theme of dining in response to one of two objects: a white porcelain soup bowl designed by Jasper Conran and manufactured by Wedgewood and an ornate crystal glass manufactured by Tudor Crystal. The collection shows how the creative imagination can transform a familiar manufactured product into an existing new form for the contemporary tabletop.
