Summary
With their glorious and earthy mix of Delta Blues, Ragtime, Gospel, Jazz and comic Vaudeville, The Mary Ryan Blues Trio has a huge following of fans dedicated to their exciting blend of musical genres from the 1920s onwards.
One minute you might find yourself on the Mississippi Delta, as roots Blues singer Mark Braidner plays blues guitar; the next hearing an interpretation of theatrical song as Mary Ryan drifts into the classic blues of Bessie Smith and the ragtime ballads of Blind Willie McTell. To top it all off, Belfast pianist Simon Templeton gets into his own unique Ragtime style learned from his collection of sheet music from the 1920s.
This talented trio has just released its much anticipated debut album which includes songs of the freight–train hopping singers who travelled from Beale Street to New Orleans – Mississippi John Hurt, Memphis Minnie, Louis Armstrong, Lil Green, Big Bill Broonzy and Blind Willie McTell.
Bar drinks can be brought into the studio for this event.
